An Elkhart woman is suing Elkhart Schools alleging she was fired because her husband refused sexual advances from the Cleveland Elementary school principal. Deann Schuler’s suit alleges that her husband, Brett, left his teaching job at Cleveland Elementary last summer because he wanted to “extricate himself” from a female principal’s unwanted advances. The suit says to punish him, the principal caused the corporation to fire her from her job in the school’s dietary department. The Elkhart Truth reports the suit seeks damages, including loss of wages and benefits, distress, humiliation and pain and suffering. The corporation has denied all aspects of the suit and demanded a jury trial.
