A Warsaw-based company has joined the US Department of Energy’s Better Buildings, Better Plants program.
The move means Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc. is committing to reducing energy intensity by 25% over the next 10 years.
The medical device manufacturer’s participation in the program also includes a water-reduction component.
In 2015 the company announced a goal to reduce its carbon footprint by 20 percent by 2020, and Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Logistics Adrian Furey says joining the DOE program will help them reach that goal and continue to reduce energy intensity over the long term.
Nearly 3,000 facilities are participating in the program.
